If you are, please post here and I'll email you. It's important (I know this sounds stupid to post here) but I'll explain later.

I'm guessing a car breakdown? And he can't reach anyone he knows who is close enough to help? But what do I know?

Enlighten us, Neil!

Dude,

Just check with yahoo.com. You are 278 miles away. If I can help let me know.

Dang, that's FIVE HOURS away. You're a prince among men if you're offering to drive there :-)

No, we left something valuable there; a good Samaritan turned it in, and they are going to hold it for us. But I'm not sure I feel comfortable leaving it there until we get back up that way (and we are pretty far right now), so I was wondering if anyone lived near there.

Sorry about being coy, but the forums are accessible to DPCers and nonDPCers alike, and I don't want to provide details in the open forum.

I've done that with my kids - 4 times. They kept getting returned though.

Hey Folks. Just wanted to offer some closure for this thread. We just got back from NC, our grueling 14 hour drive.

I'm sorry to be coy about the information in this thread, but the threads are open, and I didn't want someone (no doubt a nonDPCer) finding it via google and going to pick up the lost item.

My daughter left her purse at the Modena rest stop in the bathroom. It had money, keys, license, credit cards, phone and a Canon SD camera (can't think of the model number off hand).

A good samaritan turned in the purse, but not before a bad samaritan had stolen her cash, the phone, and the camera. Fortunately, we got the purse license, credit cards, and her copy of our Honda key back (those are expensive to replace). So not all was lost.

I do want to thank DPC as an incredibly supportive community and especially annig who made some calls and actually arranged for someone to pick up the purse while we were in NC. We opted not to do that because I left it to my daughter as to whether or not she felt it was worth putting someone to the trouble versus the risk. It would not have mattered in what was stolen because we spoke to the person who had put it in the lost and found, and we believe the missing items were already missing. He would not, in fact, accept a reward from us--instead he asked that we place it in the charity drive bin instead (a true sign of his character).

Anyway, it's nice to be back, and I just wanted to say thanks again to annig and the DPC community.
