Hey

dsray, where did you come from? I thought that I pretty much knew who all the DPC'ers were that lived in South Florida (what few there are). I see that you've been on DPC since 2004. Where have you been?

Come on down and join us for the rest of this get together. At least make it for the weekend in Key West.

hummm, well....gee....I hope that's it for the snakes on this trip.

Looks like good fun so far, I'm sorry about missing the airboat ride.

You don't like snakes? You should have been there then. The girl who was presenting the snake show was surprised that she couldn't find anyone in the audience who was afraid of snakes.

Well, don't worry. There will be no more snakes on this trip. We've left the Everglades behind. Now you'll just get to deal with sharks, stingrays and barracudas. Oh, and the cross dressers in Key West.

It looks like everyone is having a good time so far. I hope that the weather will hold and improve as the trip goes along.
Has anyone mentioned that the steam launch used in the movie "African Queen" is at the Holiday Inn, at MM100 on Key Largo.
I so wish that I could be along for all the fun.
How many are there, and how many will be at Marathon?
Thanks for posting the first group of pics. It looks like the snake is having fun too.
I have to go 85 miles the wrong way, north, in the morning to start up a big cooler to chill strawberry seedlings so that they will have berries after they plant them. : (
There is a slight possibility that I may be able to sneak off for a day and night this weekend to Key West, or possibly the mid keys around Friday PM.

Yep. I mentioned that as we were talking about possibly kayaking through the mangrove trails where that movie was filmed. The mangroves hang over from both sides so that there is complete coverage overhead. When you approach, the water is as smooth as glass because so little wind gets in there. With the perfect reflection it looks like a tunnel.

There were 8 of us today. I won't be there on thursday but I will on Friday again and for the rest of the weekend. So, at Marathon there will be 8 on thursday and now that I see that

dsray has posted while I am typing this, that will make 10 on Friday.

JuliBoc departs sometime on Friday and

jrtodd and wife will join us on Saturday. So that makes 11 for Key West plus a few more possibilities that I have been talking to that are still not sure if they can make it. I hope they can. You are one of them :)

Alright Dwight! We will all be very happy to meet you. Take a look at the first post in this thread to find the numbers for the hotels/motels that we will be staying in. I'll PM you my phone number so that we can coordinate where we will meet up with you.

We came across another snake while at the bird sanctuary. It kept it's distance though.

Once we get internet access for our computers, we'll post pictures of Robert enjoying the ssnake.

Here is a link to the NWS Key West weather radar. It may be helpful for planning a few hours at a time if someone has a laptop and a wireless connection. There are links to loops in this page so you can see what rain is moving and what direction. Key West Weather Radar

Watch out for the speed trap below Bahaia Honda, in the Key Deer Refuge. There is only one road thru there, so that is how they keep their economy going.

WARNING - The school zone at the west end of Marathon is a killer too. Come out of the Stuffed Pig and head for the seven mile bridge and zap! Radar.

Robert - I know the Blue Water, I've stayed there in the past, a nice place with good memories for me. I'll catch up to you when able.

Nikolai1024 for posting all the great pix. It looks like someone was a little slow about dropping the snack for the tarpon. I hope that don't get infected.
I would guess that sunset today will be awesome too because of the distrubance in the Gulf of Mexico.
Here's wishing that your stop at Bahaia Honda will look something like this weatherwise.

I want to be there, but work is having too many urgent situations in two different locations for to take off for that long right now. I am still have hope that I may be able to hit KW over the weekend for a little while. It is a 6 hr drive each way from here, but would be worth the effort if I can get off.

OK bags are packed, just waiting for Sherry to get home from work. We should be leaving by 3:30 and are going to drive until we are sick of it and spend the night, hopefully around Key Largo. Friday we are heading straight for Key West so I guess we will see the group Saturday sometime, Robert has my cell#.

WoW!!! I completely missed it!!! DAMMM!!! I just remembered about the gtg! I was really busy with my new boat. Im sorry guys i compltly forgot all about it.
