I have reinstalled MS Internet Explorer, I have uninstalled and then installed the stand-alone .exe for the flash program found on macromedia.com, but flash does not seem to be working on my system.
I viewed this cemetery site the other day without a problem. Now, I cannot.
Can you? Clubjuggle can.
Is it me? or the site?
Any suggestions?

I'm on my way out.. but I will check back on any posts to this later.
Thanks! ;)

It's working fine for me KarenB!

It took me a few min to realize I had to select a different season to make the image change, but they are working and they are awesome.

Thanks for sharing

So, your flasher has been arrested, eh?
Couple questions:

- What OS?
- When you went to reinstall flash, did you just go t a flash site and let the automated installer take over, or did you install manually?

One possible source of problems is a registry setting. Even though you uninstalled, registry settings can persist, unfortunately. In this case, you'd have to uinstall and use a utility to clean up unused registry settings, then reinstall. No guarantee this is the problem, tho.

Sorry KarenB,

I might be able to help you with the flash on your camera, :)
But I don't know anything about computers.
Did you look through some of the pictures to see if others of them work? I didn't realize some of them moved until I went back to look at them again. I guess it took some of them more time to load or something. I wish I knew more about it so I could help you.

I can see it fine Karen. If you reinstalled IE, then perhaps it's your security setting that is preventing the flash. Or, I guess it could be the site however I doubt it. My studio site is flash, try it, Sintz Productions, if it doesnt work, I would verify that your security setting are correct before installing/reinstalling anymore.

OS: WinXP Home
I went to the macromedia.com site for all of this.
I at first let the automated installer take over, but it does not. It displays a broken image link.
I turned off my pop-up/ad-killer, and tried again. no go.
I checked my security settings: medium
I downloaded the uninstaller for flash, closed browser, ran the uninstall. Checked the C:/programs for any flash or macromedia folders. none.
went back to the macromedia site, and downloaded the stand-alone installer. closed browser, installed this.
I go to any site using flash:
the cemetery one in my first post,
deadwolf's Sintz Productions,
www.soulcityband.com
none of these sites work for me now.
the cemetery site displays an outline of a box, with a broken image indicator in it.
deadwolf: I see a long green graphic/image, then to the right a broken image box.
soul city's site (my husband's band) used to display certain videos and animated things.. now has various broken image indicators.
Funny, I noticed the broken image indicators in the chat the other day, and how every time I log onto even DPC now, I get those indicators, then the images display.. but after a second or two.
Thanks for your help on this.
I'm at a loss.

Rebooting?

It does certainly seem that something was left behind from the previous installation that is causing problems. I can't say for sure, but it seems a very strong probability.
the most conservative approach would be to contact Macromedia and see what they recommend. Another alternative would be to use a registry clean-up utility, though I'm a little wary of those.

Try downloading Ad-Aware free home user version and run it to see if you have some nasty trolls lurking in your cache or registry. Be sure after you install it to check for updates as the dat file is updated several times a month. This is free for home use unless you want to pay for the Plus or Professional version, NOT. Sometimes spyware can mess with your plugins, and if nothing more, you will get all the spyware and adware off your computer.

What version of IE Explorer did you install on WinXP? For XP you need 6.0 or above.

Also, if you have the XP compatable IE and nothing else works, use the Flash Uninstaller and then try to reinstall.

I have WinXP, and the latest IE. I did the uninstaller.
I appreciate your time and effort to help me...
I think I need to take advantage of the XP restore to bring my system back to the day it was working.
Thanks again!

You bet Karen. If I were sitting in front of you computer, I could most likely fix it. Just hard to investigate from here. Let me know if I can help more.

My system works again. :)
I had to do a system restore back to a date in December, and now all my software and websites with Flash Player work again.
Since I last posted, I noticed certain software not functioning quite right either.
I recently (this past week) made my first DVD movie, and I wonder if something corrupted by using such large files?
Dunno. Maybe I will never know.... but I will keep good restore points, and a log.
:)

Glad to see you got it up and running Karen. That graveyard site rocked by the way. Thanks for the link.

what program did you use to create the dvd? What kind of burner do you have?
01/19/2004 06:55:07 PM · #19
I used DVD architect, and have a Pioneer DVD/CD-R/RW. Sony Vaio computer.
dunno if that even had anything to do with it, but..
