i was looking into a wider angle like a 20-28mm anywhere in between. looking to do large group shots, and landscapes, but only found the 24 to be cheap and have good results at the same time. give me one for round 300 or less and keep it prime and under or at f/4 which should be reasnble. even off brand like tokina and sigma...ect. just give me what you got.

sigma has a 20mm 1.8 thats definitely worth a look at. Its a bit more than 300 but I've seen some great shots taken with it.

The 24 2.8 should be decent. I haven't heard good things about the sigma..

If you don't mind looking at 3rd party lenses, Tokina makes a 17mm f/3.5, Sigma makes a 20mm f/1.8 and 30mm f/1.4 and Tamron has a 11-18mm f/4.5 - 5.6. A couple of those are a bit higher (highest is $450) than you posted, but you don't want to buy a lesser quality lens....you'll regret it. You can find all those at Sigma4Less.

Added: OOPS, missed the 'under f/4' part. Here's some shots with it though...you can decide if it's what you need.

canon's 28mm 2.8 is only $160.00 and is an exceptional lens, I plan to buy another one as I sold mine to scrape together enough money for the 24-70L, but I loved that prime.

my 2 ribbon winners with it:

(edit to add) - 28mm isn't super wide on a 1.6 crop factor camera
