Ben, Ben, Ben (Shakes his head back and forth slowly), now I'll have to stay away from the Pentax forums I read, as you will have started a feeding frenzy of speculation. Thanks! ;-).

Can you say "Pentax 645D" 33.3 MP high speed, shooting machine.
Just a guess. (or is it?)

The digital 645 system i thought was old news. Might not have been released but not news for the average pentax user who isnt gonna have one or a hasselblad for that matter.

As I said on another forum. They will be giving them to me just before the "Salon de la Photos" in Paris in October. I will be present at the Pentax Stand the 6 & 7th of October. Hope you show up...

The last I heard from my old Pentax rep is that the system is very much alive. The big concern for Pentax is securing a steady supply of sensors. The 33+ MP chip that has been rumored is apparently in very, very short supply. Pentax doesn't want to announce the long awaited, and much delayed camera, only to tell people that you have to wait 6 months to even have a chance to buy one. It may get released in a lower res version and then expect a higher res version in about 18 months- or so I am told the rumors are.

Old news doesnt mean its not alive. Im just saying its something that we know is coming around and 99% of us probably wont own one unless its 3000 or less.... so doubt it lol.

I didnt say you did, and was originally referencing that it wouldnt be of any major news. Meaning i personally believed it had nothign todo with anything.

Some German online magazine is reporting that other than the DA* 16-50 2.8 and DA* 50-135 2.8, which are now FINALLY!! available BTW, that Pentax will NOT be releasing another lens in 2007.
This is contrary to the Pentax lens roadmap, which states the DA* 200 2.8 and 300 4.0 will be released in September, with the DA* 60-250 4.0 to follow in Dec and the DA* 55 1.4 and 35 Macro Ltd sometime this fall as well.
So far, that report is just a rumour, but considering the 4 month delay in getting the first two DA* lenses to market...it wouldn't be surprising.
Pentax supposedly has a press conference scheduled for August 23... and Ben keeps telling us something BIG is going down this fall. I've still got my fingers crossed for additional lenses... even if I cant afford them, the sooner Pentax beefs up their telephoto lineup, the better...
