Im living outside my home country but i need to get a photo for my countries ID card. The problem is that i dont know how to call this photo. So if anyone can help Id appreciate it greatly.

The photos are not taken with digital camera (i dont know if thats important really).

They are printed in BW on a really thin paper. This paper is the thickness of notebook paper and even feels like it.

I was told the image is 'printed' directly on this paper.

Any ideas what this is?

Help!

This article may help:

It sounds like they are passport photos.

Thanks for the link, they are different than passport photos, passport ones are 40mm x 60mm, and ID photos are square.

Ill try calling a police station (wish me good luck hehe)

thanks again

The photos are indeed passport photos that are taken digitally and printed on special photo paper.

If the police don't like the photo or find something wrong with it, they'll either ask you to do it again or scan it into their system, remove any strange lines and distracting objects using Photoshop and print them again on their photo paper. They are then cut to the 40 x 40 size needed for the ID. My fiance got his new ID a few months ago from the police station, and what happened is exactly as I describe in the article. We live in Greece.

Photos for the new Greek biometric passport are in color, inspected and tweaked by police using Photoshop and printed or cut down to size at the police station as well. If you are outside of Greece, it's best to consult a Greek consulate near you. They are authorized to accept and dispense official advice. Calling a police station will get you the same information I gave in the article.
