I just saw this clip on the local news here in Seattle....my question is, what would be classified as "out of the ordinary" in regard to this...then again, what is ordinary?

By Associated Press
SEATTLE (AP) - Washington state ferry employees have been told to watch for suspicious passengers after an incident in which someone took some out-of-the-ordinary photos.

Washington State Patrol spokesman Bob Calkins in Olympia says the incident took place last month and he can't disclose details because it's still under investigation. He says it led to an internal memo to ferry employees asking them to be more alert.

Calkins says the photo-takers drew attention because they were behaving a little differently than commuters or tourists. He says no officer was available at the time to check them out, so the memo was sent. He says it's not a warning.

Any tips will be analyzed by the Washington Joint Analytical Center, a multi-agency center at the Seattle FBI office, that gathers information to look for security threats.

Calkins says the patrol and Coast Guard already provide security for state ferries because they could be a target for terrorism.

The usual suspects. Hot looking women are probably right at the top of their list. Especially if they have a DSLR camera. Anyone that even remotely looks like they might not Respect My Authoritaaahh!! Basically, anything they feel like investigating.

See, I guess why I brought this here, a common thread I suppose. I have read similar issues here that photographers in this day and age happen upon, just by holding a DSLR, if not a point and shoot if it were. I am confused about what is ordinary anymore. I personally have ridden these fairies across the sound numerous times, and have shot so many pictures it would make your head spin. I shoot the lines of the rails, the wake of the water, the landscapes, the people, the employees, just about every aspect one encounters when they ride across the sound. Heck, it possibly could have been me or someone I know that they are investigating and personally, that really bothers me. Seems a touch like McCarthyism, if not as the old coin rings, history repeats. Sorry, just a nerve and I know it is safe to vent here....
