I've been short on time lately -- are you offering a rebate/credit for Brown Ribbons?

Nah - you can screw up your pictures better than I can.

(gawd I hope no one takes me seriously)

I don't want this to sound like i'm knocking anybodys pictures, callaboration or anything like that, but don't you "ribbon hogs" feel like a semi pro baseball team beating up on a beer leauge team? I mean, how many times can you ribbon before you start to think "gee, maybe i'm in a class above this"? Or perhaps you need to tell the rest of us where the 'beer leauge" photography site is?

I don't have much new to add to this discussion, but I want to say it irks me how distasteful things have gotten around here. I'm not a regular at DPC and I don't submit to the contests, but I used to enjoy the spirit of the challenges. Now I return and find there is a ridiculous fraternity system of teams to more efficiently sort out winners and losers, and the ascension of self-promoters like Achoo. Inevitable that it happened I guess, it is essentially American. Why not have separate "league play" for those inclined and leave the rest of us what we started with. More likely, I'll just move on.

Believe me I understand how you feel. This place has lots of talented photographers, and having to compete against them as individuals, without the collaboration, is plenty tough enough. However, I don't think that you should just give up and leave. If enough people voice their opinion, then maybe things will get better. You can always take off later on if it doesn't, right? :)

I am new to DPC and I am probably jumping in the fire for what I am going to say.

If the objective of collaboration is to get better:
You can always ask your "team" to give you feedback after you submitted your photo. If you truly want to improve, you could always edit and ask for further critiques from your team again. Thats how you learn.

I don't understand how it is different than getting feedback before you submit your entry other than changing the image prior to submission to get a better rating. This also introduces another problem. You show your image to your team, guess what, they will recognize the image in the voting period and give you a 10. You think that is fair for the rest of us?

I am new, as I said, and probably suck at photography. I intend to keep taking pictures regardless of whether you cheat or not. I guess I am used to knowing that my classmates cheat in exams. But, wanted to tell you how I feel.

i like competiting against these arrogant a**hol*s, it makes me push myself harder than i would have before. (just kidding, they're not arrogant ;) )i'm pretty sure if i was to go to larus (as i have before) and asked him for ideas, he wouldn't push me away. just like any other member of the Hogs would, hence their effort for putting together tutorials and "how to" threads.

i think everyone gets jealous of their winning, and mistakes their hilarious ranting as true arrogance, when in all actuality if you get to know them (as i know a few) they are just kids having fun :P

or maybe i'm way off and they really are arrogant.

piss off, iceland.
