I have this Sunpak sitting around and was thinking about using it some. I used to use it with a Mamia RB ProS. Anyone every try this? Should I even hook it up? Will it work? I'm tempted but dont want my 300D to explode. hahahaha |

Heck, I've been using my Sunpak 544 with my 10D to very good effect... only thing is, it's completely manual. Eventually I'll want to move to a Canon E-TTL flash, but for now the Sunpak serves my purpose.

Well, thats promising. The 611 has a hotshoe sensor that works with between the camera and the flash in auto mode. I was concerned it might fry my 300d. I'll have to do some test shots then. I have 3 or 4 flashes and slaves around but their 10 years old, still work though. |

I did some looking around and found THIS SITE. There is a specific voltage the 300D/10D accepts before getting cooked. It seems that some flashes vary as much as from 4V to 200V for the same model in older models. Fortunatly I have a digital volt ohm meter to test. This might be a good FAQ somewhere since even people like me thats been buying this stuff your years still has too much to learn and is ignorant of the rules of the road. Sometimes I feel like I've been hit with a stupid stick. |

I should mention that I'm connecting the 544 via the PC synch terminal, not the hot shoe.

You're safe either way Fritz. The site says the 544 is perfect voltage.
