I need to lose belly weight but gain muscle weight, in my weedy arms mostly, so I dunno if I need to go up or down overall...

You basically described me... but this gut has got to go, I can deal with the less than bulky arms.

Well, I took my measurements when we started this... and again last night... I was (don't laugh):

162lbs and
upper arm 12"
chest 38"
waist 33"
hips 41"
thigh 23"
calf 14"

Now I am:

148lbs and
upper arm 11 1/2"
chest 36"
waist 32"
hips 39"
thigh 22"
calf 14"

I know, it's not much, but I can wear some of my clothes again!! :)

btw: I have been working nights at Wal-Mart, doing portraits on my days off, and I have been living on Pizza Rolls, salad, and juice drinks. LOL However, I cut my sleep down to 4 to 5 hours a day and make it a point to move allll the time (even in my car I dance in my seat). I work out for an extra hour a day, either dancing or just doing situps and pilates.

I wanna hear some progress reports!! :)

now my stats, i'm 28, 5"11' and i weigh (nips downstairs and weighs him self) a gut wrenching 16 stone and 12 pounds :(

what am i going to do to lose weight? - i'm going on a diet, no meat, low fat, no salt, no sugar, no processed wheat products, white bread, white flour etc. eat loads of fruit and veg.

This is normally the crunch do some (any at all would be good) exercise.

i hope i can do it this time, i have never been slim but i broke my hand 2 years ago and was off work for ages (not much i can do being a baker) and i piled on the pounds and they just have never come off :(

Only lost 6lbs. so far.... :( I've done really well with eating right and exercise(except for last night.) lol which is why I bought the scale. I got mad that my clothes didnt fit much better and ate way over my allotted calorie amount. So today I bought a scale so I could see if there was any real difference. I'm hoping for some extra muscle mass in there because I have walked my a** off, done yoga and stability ball and medicine ball exercises as well as dancing and just overall constant movement. My ab muscles hurt like hell (almost as bad as after my c-section)so something must be happening. but I sure would have liked to see more than a 6 lb. loss. But that's my update. Hope I have a better one next time.

Don't get discouraged :)

Remember that when you first start getting into shape, you are going to gain muscle first so you might lose less weight in the beginning.

6 pounds is 6 pounds sweetie!! I am proud of you!!!

Keep it up!! :)

I've lost 6 lbs so far. Not much, but my clothes fit a lot better, probably because I've been getting tons of exercise.
