Why in the world does the profile pic HAS to be 120 x 90?

It's such a weird aspect ratio, I always have to crop a photo. Besides, it might be handy if we could use a thumb from our portfolio or challenge entries

:)

Remember that it can also be 90 x 120.

I think that they should allow any dimension equal to or smaller than 120 x 120.

I thought about adding that.. but well, you can see the 90 x 120 also as 120 x 90. Glass is half full or half empty, right?

;P

120 x 90 = 6 x 4.5 the aspect ratio of a 4:3 camera or basicly 90% of all point and shoots. If you shoot a portrait with a point and shoot all you have todo is resize.

Yopu shoot with a dSLR that does 3:2 okay thats fine... but if we do 3:2 now its 120x80, now Point and shoots have to crop. WHen this was put itno place the point and shoots were probably the mass majority.

You probly forgot what it was like to be 4:3 lol!

It's such a weird aspect ratio ...

Uh, that's the standard 4:3 ratio native to at least 90% of camera sensors ...

Auw.

I never used a 4:3! Sorry! Never knew how it was.

Anyway, the 120 x 120 and everything inbetween sounds like a good idea.

Yes, but in video the 4:3 ratio is going the way of VHS.

and DVD lol. DVD's support a range of resolutions and aspect ratios but youll find 50% of them are 4:3 native. WHat i like is some of the newer DVD players are able to take a widescreen DVD thats 4:3 and remove the bars. Of course you can use a widescreen DVD in a regular dvd player and itll add them for you.
