I sent in an original of a photo on Friday at the request of DPC.

However my status on the home page still reads "Thank you for submitting your proof file. Your submission is being reviewed by the administrators and is pending further action."

Is this because it still has not been reviewed. Or, does the status never change once it has been verified?

It changes once it has been verified.

We usually wait until the majority of the Site Council and/or the two site admins have voted before making a "ruling". It could be that some folks have been busy and haven't check the proof/DQ stuff recently to provide their vote...

When I sent in proof on Sunday night for being in the top 5 I didnt get anything about it being reviewed, it was just cleared from my stats box. Does that mean it was instantly verified or does it not show that after the challenge has ended? I think a lot of people, myself included, would also like either text in the stats box and/or an email to say that it was verified too. Although I had no reason to fear being DQ'd it was a natural feeling of 'eep, hope I didnt do anything wrong without knowing' type of thing and logging in every morning hoping your pic is still in the top 5 is kinda scary. It would settle a lot of peoples' minds if they could be told.

My understanding is this:

If proof is requested on your image during a challenge while voting is still in progress, the various steps of the verification process are listed: proof requested, proof received and being reviewed, and then either validated or DQ'd. This was easy to implement this way because your challenge entries (and any text like "your photo has been validated") automatically "disappear" when voting is over.

When proof is requested on a challenge that has already finished voting, you will see a special "proof requested" box in the top-left of the home page when you are logged in, and once you submit proof, that box goes away. At that point, I believe you would only be notified (via email) if your image was DQ'd. I agree that it would be nice if a box came back up that said "your entry has been validated" (and you could somehow acknowledge it so it the box went away again), but I think that things are implemented the way they are now because it was the quickest way to add web-based (as opposed to relying on email) "proof required" notification.
