it's official. Mpix rules.

yesterday morning i realized that i had completely forgotten that my entries to a photo competition are due this weekend. i knew that i wouldn't have time to do any matting or mounting, so i uploaded 3 16x20" shots to Mpix and ordered them mounted on double-weight matboard with overnight shipping (which was only $5 more than regular shipping).

the order was placed at 9:30am yesterday. the photos arrived at 11:44am today. that, my friends, is AWESOME.

I concur. I haven't pushed the boundaries of its coolness, but from my experience...it works.

Yes, I use Mpix for anthing 8x10 and above. I used to use them for 4x6s but now I'm going with a cheaper site for the 4x6s.

What I love best about MPIX is not just their insanely fast shipping itme, but their metallic paper. The way the colors jump off the paper is just brilliant. I have noticed a slight loss in detail, but on large prints it is still amazing. I have looked all over an nobody else seems to print on that paper.

I would agree with what has been said. Mpix is great. I just ordered a ton of photos, and used the regular shipping and it got here the second day after I ordered.

here here! i want to roll around on that paper. it's SO awesome!

they say it's "not recommended for portraits" but i use it for B/W portraits frequently! and on color portraits, it truly makes eyes sparkle. it's luscious.

With metallic prints I noticed they are not as prominent behind the glass in a frame. Anyone else notice this?

I think it depends ont he gtlass you use. I have a print behind non-glare glass and it really diffused the effect. I can't get non-glare glass here in Korea so all of my prints here are still prominent behind the regulare glass.

I think the paper is great. I just wish other places offered it so prints could be sold cheaper with that paper.

I sold 8 prints on that paper and only made like 85 dollars. If I coudl have gotten the prints at cost I could have made more.

I agree! I used them when I lived in the US, their customer service is excellent. Sadly they won't ship overseas and I find it hard to believe I will find a service provider as efficient as them where I am living now.
