I'm somewhat new to Adobe Light Room (1.1), but I've been doing a lot of reading, research and experimentation on the photo management features. Love it thus far.

Most all the documentation I've found is very clearly on the "how to" side -- what this button does, what that dialog box does... but nothing really describing best practices or *detailed* workflow examples for mid- or large-size photo collections. I mean, really specific advice and/or real-world examples about file naming, directory structures, backup policies, specific attention to network storage (CIFS/Samba, NFS, etc.) vs. local storage, and so on.

Sure, I know that most of those things are "up to me," but with that degree of freedom (in my mind at least) comes a need for standards, or at least some degree of interoperability (i.e. strategies to make collections easy to share with other computers on the local network which may or may not have LR installed, sharing native catalogs/collections with other photographers, etc.)...

Does anyone have any pointers or links to tutorials, books, anything... that really goes in depth on those topics, and perhaps gives some detailed case studies and examples?

Perhaps it's just the engineer in me, ;) but everything I've found so far is a little too holistic and "do whatever you want to do"...

Thanks - Chuck
