My husbands 40th bday is 3 weeks away, and I've planned a big surprise party for him. At the party, I want to show a slideshow of pictures of him starting from when he was just a baby, up to now. I have gathered a bunch of photos from his family, and now comes the problem.

How would you all go about scanning them in, and making a slideshow on a dvd, so that it can play on a tv at the party? I'm so lost when it comes to stuff like this.

HELP!!!

I have Nero 7, and it has a great slideshow feature called Nero Vision. You drop photos onto a timeline, and you can specify transitions, the time for each photo to display, etc.

There's also a separate track for audio, so you can score the slideshow with your favourite music, sound effects...whatever.

I use Windows so it's all drag-and-drop. Very simple.

The resulting project can be burned to a CD or DVD for playback on various platforms.

Good luck.

That's EXACTLY what i need.
Where do I get it? Is it something that can be downloaded? Or would I have to purchase it?

THanks so much fromac!

The other option is Pro Show Gold, which as far as I know, isnt very expensive.

You can buy the whole suite of programs...here. I'm sure there are many places to buy it...and, obviously, it's not cheap.

I don't know if you can buy Nero Vision as a standalone, though. Try Googling.

I've used ProShow -- it is inexpensive and VERY easy to use. ProShow Standard will let you burn VCD slide shows which have lower image quality and can't be played on all DVD players (but will work if you don't have a DVD burner). ProShow Gold will burn slideshows on DVD with much higher quality. Both are equally easy to use and you can add MP3s for background music and automatically time the slide durations to fit the music length. Tons of transition effects and lots of options for DVD menuing and such.

It can be downloaded from //www.download.com -- the trial version puts a banner across the slideshow and might not allow you to burn DVDs, but you can at least try it out to see if it'll do what you need before buying it.
