Hi, Looking for a bit of advice please?
I would like a TC for my Sigma 70-300 F4-5.6 APO Macro Super Lens and Nikon D50.
It will mainly be for wildlife and it is important that Autofocus still works.
The Kenko 1.4tc pro300 has been suggested to me. Does anyone have experience of this TC or any other suggestions please? What about a 2x converter?
Thanks for any help. |

I'm selling the Sigma 1.4x TC. If you get your various questions answered and are interested, shoot me a pm. |

The Sigma is not a very fast lens, then coupled to a 2X converter, will be painfully slow and will only be useful in very bright daylight. Also expect a bit hit on max focal length sharpness too.
You would be far better off not adding to that lens in my opinion (I own one) and would get far better results with the
Sigma 170-500mm f/5-6.3 APO Aspherical for Nikon
or the
Sigma 170-500mmD f/5-6.3 APO DG Aspherical for Nikon

The Kenko pro TC's are quite nice. Almost as good as the Nikon models, and half the price. But, according to the specs, the Kenko pro TCs can only autofocus lenses that are f/2.8 or faster. I have one, and it works well on my 80-200 f/2.8, but I've never tried it on a slower lens.
Brad's right. If wildlife or birds are your main focus, you might consider selling the lens getting something either longer or faster. |
