I just got back from watching the movie for #5 and picked up my new book right afterwards (the theater sold them). The movie was actually really good.
Don't know about the book though, as I'm about to go to bed. *yawn* I'm going to let the wife read it until I wake up in the morning when I'll rip it out of her hands and not let her near it again until I've finished. *g* |

I got mine at midnight Kuwaiti time at a PX in the middle of nowhere. :-) This was after I delivered 160 copies to other trailers in the middle of nowhere for sale today. Haven't had time to read it yet, though. Will try to get in a bit this afternoon, then a bit more this evening. |

Got mine (well my fiancee got ours) about an hour ago. They had two stations setup. You gave your voucher to a person at the station and it would be torn in half. One half for them, one half for your copy. Next!
Two lines of two at LEAST 2 blocks long. We were about half a block away when midnight hit. 20 minutes later we were walking back to the car with 2 copies. (I bought a copy for a friend at work who is going to surprise his wife).
It was actually quite the event here. There were street performers and hundreds of people dressed up for it. I would post pics but they are getting uploaded to my comp right now.

I just saw it in the book section of the department store, all copies in shrink wrap. It's 3800yen, which is about $AUD35.60, so I can wait to get the $19.99 copy and read it on the plane coming back ;-Þ.
Oh, and I bought one of the first copies of Book One on the day it was originally released in Australia way back when. ;-Þ |

I sucked it up and bought the book non spoiled. Figure I will read it tomorrow. Fingers crossed no one I like gets snuffed. The line at the barns and nobles was at least a mile long. Drove 4 blocks to walmart and was # 20 in line and saved $$ :) |

Ahhh, the joys of living in a small town. Waited for my daughter to get in from New Mexico, then packed my two big dogs in the car and drove 15 minutes to Wally World - where there were maybe two other people in the store - grabbed a copy (daughter's birthday today)and was out in 5 minutes. They have a huge pile of the books for $17.88 and no one around. Gotta stop reading for a bit and get ready for an ATV trip along the continental divide later this a.m. |

I went on a Harry Potter bender the last two weeks!! I reread the Order of the Phoenix before it came out in theaters...and saw the movie the day it came out. And then I reread the Half Blood Prince, so it would be fresh for the book today. I'll pick up my copy in about an hour. I do have a dilemma though...do I read it right away or wait a week and a half, for when I am laid up after my back surgery on the 31st...then I would at least have something to look forward to???
I think if I wait...I will actually have to send the book to work with my husband...so, I can't get my hands on it!!

Our neighbor plans events for B&N, and last night we (her husband, my wife, and I) helped with the Harry Potter Party. We guys split the scene at 11:00 pm and headed home for our well deserved beers. My wife bought a book (first in line after the costume contest winners) and continued to help with the crowd. They worked everyone that was there through the line in about an hour, then helped pick up the store. The girls got home about 2 in the morning. I, of course, went to bed and got almost 7 hours of sleep. My wife stayed up with the book for another 3 hours and read. I expect her to have it done by tonight. I haven't read any of them yet...I wait for the movies! Plus it is easier to tease her about reading them, if I haven't!

I didn't really see much point of queueing up at a bookshop for hours, I just went to the supermarket at midnight, picked one from the thousands of copies and was out of the shop 5 minutes and £10 later.
4 hours reading last night, 2 today, all finished, very good indeed. |

Grrrrrrrrrr... we sold 100 copies of that book in under an hour at Wal-Mart last night... put me out of a break for 4 hours LOL
Our Wal-Mart was selling them for $20.52 (that included tax) hehe
We did have to keep them under lock and key though... so sad that people can't be trusted not to steal a book :( |

It was HILARIOUS to see the Official Scholastic Books Harry Potter Rules Sheet that B&N had to follow. The shipping boxes could not be cut open until 12:01, all the registers had to have the exact same time on them so no reciepts showed any sale of the book before 12:01, the shipping boxes were to be covered or out of sight from any customer, and there was a rent-a-cop there to guard them with his pepper spray and radio. At one point a Sgt. with the city's PD pulled up, came in and asked the manager, "So exactly what is going to go down here tonight, so I can let my guys know what to expect?" I wanted to step in and say, "Well, we are gonna take all these bookshelfs, push them against the wall, light a small fire in the middle of the room so we can have a magic competition. After which we will have refreshments and bring in stationary bikes for our Harry Potter Spinning Class." I guess it was a much funnier situation to those of us that weren't very excited about the release of this book. |

I'm kicking myself. I bought it online for nearly 50% off, and then to get the full bargain I went for free delivery, which means I won't get it for at least a week! What was I thinking?
I normally wouldn't mind the delay, but I'm trying to avoid hearing any spoilers.
