The portfolio is different in the same way that "exists" and "doesn't exist" are different. :)

Actually, they do and they don't exist.
When you cease to be a member, they are not visible. However, they are not erased or anything.
When/If you resign up, they reactivate. Technically, I think it is for a certain amount of time, but for now, that is not an issue. If it ever became a storage issue or something, it might.
So, it does and doesn't exist. |

Your portfolio images become hidden. If your membership lapses for more than 30 days, DPC reserves can delete the images without warning. This this is not regularly done, it can happen.
Perhaps more importantly, you lose your update button, the member challenges, and the respect and admiration of your peers.
