Hello all. I have heard of more and more people getting into this kind of thing, where they set up at an event and take portraits, and print them out and sell on site. I searched and only came up with this thread. A little bit of good info there from kevin, but I'd be interested in hearing from others with some experience in doing this.

What printer, paper, ink etc. works well, or should be used?
What is your basic workflow, etc?
What pricing seems to work best?
Anything else you care to share on the subject :-)

thanks

good thread, thanks. I actually was looking for that one when I searched, I remembered seeing it fairly recently.
So it seems the Canon 6000 series printers are a popular choice for this?

Some very good points about the advantages of having them ordered or on the web available, but also, I think a VERy good point about getting more sales if they are available right there on the spot. You know, these days people are into 'instant gratification'.

Anyone else with some input?

Its really a hit or miss thing I would think. For some of these events, people have already forked out a ton of money - hotel, travel, food, etc, so you are hitting them with another fee right away, but if you make them available online, the weekend is over, and the bills are paid, now its time to spend again haha. On the other hand, you get the advantage of "well weve already spent x, whats another y going to hurt" and catch em while they are "generous"

I guess the best of both worlds would be to do both. Make prints available on site, and then have the option to order from home via the internet. Keep in mind - the internet has shipping fees, which on some of the sites are $5, no matter what the order (1 4x6 or 20 4x6, its $5)
