I am really considering getting one of these. I just bought a 20d on ebay and it came with the canon kit lens and then a 55-200mm quantaray. For some reason anything above 110 or so the quantaray will not auto focus, plus it has a pretty soft focus from what I have seen from it. So I was thinking about getting the lens in the subject heading. Anyone have any comments/experience with it? I am new to this whole slr thing so I figured I would ask the experts so to speak.
Thanks in advance guys and gals |

| Bought it for signif other, it works well and produces fine images. IS is especially welcome at the 300mm end. |

If you've never used an L lens ... you'll love it. When I first bought mine, I used it a ton.
Last week my family went to an amusement park. Not wanting to attract too much attention, I left the 70-200 2.8L IS and the 100-400 4.0-5.6L IS lenses home and took the 70-300 IS instead. I got a LOT of great shots. But I swear, the whole time I was muttering under my breath about how slow it was to grab the focus and about the amount of light being let in. But in comparison ... those two lenses cost 4x and 3x as much as the 75-300 IS. So keep that in perspective and I think you'll still love it.

The OP is asking about the 70-300...it's way better than the 75-300. Go for it!
