Im looking to buy a new camera since i dont have one cuz the ex took it back. anyways.. im looking at these 3 cameras. I had a Nikon D50 before and i really liked it but im not familiar with the Canons and quality of them. i know there is alot of prejudice between nikon and canon but i really would like to know the best camera for me..

Well I guess I'll start this off. The "right" camera for you can only be determined by one person, and that's you. All the ones you mentioned (D80, 20D, and rebel XT) are all great cameras and can do a wonderful job. The rebel is going to be the cheapest but also the smallest and not as nice of a build quality. But if you're not going to beat on it and have small hands, that shouldn't matter. Go out, hold each one, then see which feels the best to you. The quality difference between Canon and Nikon is pretty much zero.

Canon, canon canon :-)
No seriously, they all have their advantages. the D80 is an awesome camera though.

Pentax! K100D is as good as XT if not better. K10D is an equal match for 30D. huge range of lenses.
K100D has IS built in to camera. K10D has IS and weather sealing/dust proofing. And both are great prices.
But you make your choices and pays yer money! I know which way I would go, having owned a 300D and a 30D!
Now I don't. |

Love my D70s, fits my hand perfectly, I'm a BIG guy.....friend of mine wouldn't give up her Canon 400D for anything......she's half my size.
Both great cameras, great support and lens availability.....the 20D's a notch up. The D80's getting really good reviews from owners.
Buy what feels right and seems friendliest to you.
You will have the advantage of prior knowledge with the D80 having used a D50.

| I'd go D80 or 20D. I'm not a Rebel fan. |

The D80 stomps the 20D plus you already have glass for the nikon. That will save money for you in the short term as far as great glass, nikon has all that the other systems have if not more.
