I need a web template that supports php/mysql so I can have an online photo gallery. It needs to be customizable and use a MySQL database to store my photographs. I'm currently working with Joomla but it's a lot to learn. I have tried gallery2 and others. But they didn't do it for me. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

| What didn't you like about gallery? It meets all your requirements, so if there's something in particular that didn't fly it would be helpful in narrowing down alternative suggestions. |

For some reason I could not get it customized. It didn't look like a personal portfolio site. I guess I was doing something wrong. I'm looking for something simple but personalized. A admin login so I can upload photographs like we do here at DPC and from a drop down list be able to place them in a category and submit the photo. I would also like it to show how many times the picture has been viewed. Also I would like to have the option to type in a description and title.
I guess I wanting to much without designing it myself. But with all the stress I have been under for the last month or so, it's hard to concentrate.

Everything you list, as well as all functionality of DPC with the exception of voting challenges, is offered by gallery 'out of the box'. You can also customize gallery in absolutely anyway you like as you have the source code at hand.
It does use a templating system for creating new site designs, but I would not categorize making a fully customized site appearance as 'easy'. It does take some time to get your head around what each element of each page is tagged as.
Assuming you don't find something a bit more straight forward, you may find it beneficial to take one of the existing gallery templates, copy it, and begin making small modifications to it a bit at a time. Personally if I obsess over something for a weekend or two, I find it is easy to gain quite a bit of mastery over it in a relatively small amount of time. Gallery looks intimidating at first, but like most things its more about taking the plunge and getting a level of comfort with the mechanics than walking in with a head full of answers from the get-go. |

| Thanks for your help and information, I will try that. Gallery 2 is offered by my host and why not try to learn and play with it. I have nothing up on my host, I may as well try since I have until Jan. 08 to renew my host. |
