This is great advise. I have no idea why anyone would ever need a debit card. Use a credit card and pay off the charges each month.
Another bit of advise....NEVER sign up for automatic withdrawal. It is almost impossible to stop them until the one taking the funds stops requesting the money. Closing the account won't even do it, they just send you a bill.

Update on DOBA.com
I called doba this morning as instructed by my cc company.
A male answered the phone nicely and said..."hello thanks for calling doba, are you having trouble with the program?". I said that doba charged my cc $54 and I have never even been to the doba web page.
He said he can check on that for me and asked for the cc number in question. I gave him the last 4 digits. He said "I need the whole card number in order to help you". I said every other company I have ever delt with only asked for the last 4. He said he couldn't help me unless I gave him the info. I now knew this was bogus and was about to hang up but couldn't resist.... I said "you want the whole credit card number?..why don't I send you the 80 bucks I have in my pocket also!" I then hung up and called my cc company.
CC company was happy I didn't give the whole number out and stopped my card. They are filing a fraud report on Doba.com
Remeber...I have never even heard of Doba until my card was charged !

There are many of us who dislike credit cards - too much temptation. I prefer to write checks, but a growing number of businesses no longer take checks, and so it's extremely convenient to swipe a card and record the transaction in the checking register. That is the benefit.

My wife rarely uses cash, been that way for 15+ years. Started back in college and still that way.
I don't have cash on me 95% of the time - everyplace takes cards, and my credit unioni categorizes the transactions and make these cool pie charts and all.
I also get 3 days float on my money, you don't get that with cash.
I haven't been 'in' a convenience store but once or twice in 10 years - i pay at the pump, much faster and no impulse purchases.
Then again, I know people that can't live without a cell phone - I don't have one of those and don't see the point except in case of emergency, and if there is one just ask anyone to use their phone - they'll let you.

good for you! I actually did something like this once too. I had gotten a collection notice for something I knew nothing about, so I called them and they first asked for me to verify my ssn and address. I told them, forgive me but with all the fraud and phishing out there I am not giving you my info till I know who you are and what this collection is. You have my account number how about YOU tell me info and I'll verify it. He did give all the correct info and I discovered it was a bill my wife hadn't taken care of, I apoligized for making him give the info but I don't think it was a bad idea. He understood.
I hope you can get this all finalized and behind you. I'm surprised the websites name isn't dupedya.com. |

Ken,
This guy is a real POS. I've been searching for the news story but can't seem to find it. Anyway this guy's MO is he sends out fake magazine subscriptions to people that look incredibly real. You fill it out thinking that it's legit and WHAMO he's got your cc info. He keeps changing his LLC's left and right but I'd be almost positive that it's him.

Have you "renewed" any of your subscriptions in the past few months? If so I'll bet that's where he got you.
Best of luck,
Steve

You got the right one. Also...that dropship-review website is owned by the same jackass that owns Doba.com. It is a big freak scam going on.
Also...I have a dpchallenge and a smugmug acct. Nothing else. Somehothis ahole got my card. Well anyway...my cc company is on to it now.
Thanks,
