Yet, another reason why not to take your camera into Mexico.

You might be considered a journalist with your fancy camera, and will be targeted for death by the drug cartels.

¨kill foreign journalists who report on the violence between rival cartels and security forces along the U.S.-Mexico border¨

You cant say it happens everywhere in mexico, it really doesnt. and i guess criminals all over the world wouldnt like you photographing or video taping their crimes, so its not exclusive.
you wont be mistaken for a reporter just for taking pictures out on the street. its crazy im out with my camera everyday and never had a bad experience not even attempted robbery.

Point being of this thread which you fail to grasp is that Mexico, as a state, is considered the second most dangerous place for journalists on this whole damn planet after Iraq.

A tourist with a point and shoot, or camera phone is prolly over looked by bad guys, unless, of course, they are in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A tourist with an slr is more obvious in a crowd. A bad guy prolly won't know, and will care less to know the difference between the different typed of gear that is available to both a tourist and a journalist.

A camera is a camera to a bad guy.

A bad guy will not take the time to stop and question any one with a camera, ANY camera, in order to safe guard their identity, and their deeds.

All this thread is for is to make people aware. If you don't take heed, then that is a choice that you must be responsible for.

I am just the messenger.
