17 days to get a package from Richmond to Daly City. A ~30min drive. For the last 5 days it has been sitting in the main post office about 8 blocks from my house. Never even made it to my local post office which is about 4 blocks away. Today they finally they allowed me to pick it up for myself. They never made a delivery attempt and I firmly believe had no intention of doing so any time soon. Three letters sum it up.. WTF.

If that's your worst story from the USPS, I'd say you're doing pretty good.

A couple of years ago, they raised a stink about the mail slot in our door being "smaller that regulations allow" and informed us that we would have to make a bigger one.

Keep in mind that our house is 80 years old and has had the same front door with the same mail slot for every one of those 80 years.

I called and asked if the regulations for mail slot dimensions had recently changed. The lady said, "No, I don't think so." I asked her to check, she asked the Postmaster. He confirmed it. I then told her about the notice and that mail from the USPS had been coming through the same slot in the same door for 80 years and asked her why I got the notice. She was clueless and told me she'd get back to me. Never heard a thing.

I have more stupid USPS stories.

And yeah, your summary is dead on; WTF?

Just the most recent. Your slot issue sounds par for the course. I tried calling them for some information. Unfortunately I didn't know the number so I tried to look it up online. Only had the main 800 numbers available. They say they have live support available but they must not really want you to talk to anyone. Took me 30 minutes of going through menus and calling various numbers before I got a person on the line and I'm still not sure how to do it if I needed to again. They couldn't tell me anything about the package and wouldn't even give me the local number for the post office. Called 411 and they don't have the local numbers either. I had to ambush the post lady to get the number which she wrote down for me on a delivery fail notice. Not surprisingly the pre-printed number on the notice is the wrong number. After I called they were like, yeah, it's here. Now what do you want? Uh, How about freakin' delivering it?!?

Just wish UPS, FedEx, or DHL were any better in this area.

Here's another pet peeve I have with the USPS. Their package tracking sucks! I've received packages that their tracking system shows they haven't picked up from the sender yet.

WTF?
