So I was on another site and I had 2 images pretty much called chum
I was told that they were "too blurry". They are of course manipulated.
but are they really that bad
I would like to hear what you guys say

The first just isn't my thing, but the second one, I think, is beautiful! Sure, the eyes could be a little sharper. But maybe that was your intended look?!? I like it.

They both look a bit too soft to me. If you intentionally processed them this way, then you might want to try keeping the facial features sharp. At least the area around the eyes.

I agree. the second one is beautiful but it needs an area of sharpness for the eye to grab onto. |

In portraits, I often will sharpen just the eyes and lips as a last step.
But the real question is, do YOU like them?

If the you and the client are both happy with the results, then what's the opinion of a few snobs on some other website who didn't pay for them really worth?

WoW! I'm so glad I looked at your portfolio. It's certainly not that you don't know how to get a sharply focused image. this is amazing!

I am on the fence on the first one myself. It is not really my style ... I might go and re work it
The 2nd I love ... and I agree to a point on the eye softness ... but I think it may look a liitle wierd |

I agree with the others - the second one is beautiful aside from the eyes needing to be sharper.
The first shot is too blurry and noisy for my liking. |

it's most likly one of those things where you might be showing your images to a group of people that are strong willed on the theory that all images must be razor sharp and in the middle of the scene. We all know those "rules" have their place and cannot, nor should they, be used all times. (My wife still things an image is better centered...I'm workin on her)
As mentioned if you and your client like them then you are golden and screw what others say.
Don't let them get you down. |
