Is it legal to apply borders or frames on the pictures in the current Challenge ~ New Years Resolution? Do the site council members check the submissions for compliance or do others need to suggest a DQ first? Where are the results posted for a given challenge to indicate which submissions were DQ'ed and why? I would suggest that they should be posted for any and all to see. |

We check the top 5 of each challenge, but we don't check any others unless there is a DQ suggestion from another person, simply because there are too many otherwise. DQs are not made public after the challenge to respect the individuals whose photos they are.

Thank each of you for your response. I now have a better understanding of the process.
"What's got you so border buggered Rasai?"
My 'new-be-ness' to this FANTASTIC site had me erring on the side compliance with a lack of a clear understanding of the rules. A quote comes to mind, "Just read the manual even if you aren't going to follow the instructions" DUH!
One thing that lingers is the need for respecting the privacy of the individuals that were DQ'ed. I've read in the forums of those who goofed and requested a DQ for their own work and at the other extreme people that may be repeat offenders. I have already come to respect the performance of the Site Council by the way this site is conducted. I feel confident that they will take appropriate action with any repeat offenders. Is there any way to tell what happened to the pictures you voted on during the challenge that didn't make it to the results or were removed after the results were posted?

Usually, a picture is DQed because it was taken outside the challenge date, illegal editing was used or text was added to the photo. We don't keep a listing of these photos because we don't aim to promote a "wall of shame." Many times, if questions about a certain photo being DQed are brought up in the forums, a member of the Site Council will provide a brief reason for it being DQed.
