I just got a two strobe kit...and shot some pics of my roommate for practice....tell me what you all think and what I can do to improve...Im really trying to figure out how to position the lights where I get that soft line of light on the sides....if anyone knows ho to that, that would be great...

My only criticism with the first one: REAL BALLAZ DONT USE MONOPOLY MONEY.
But seriously, I like the 2nd one a lot - the guy looks like he is a tough guy, and I think that the darkness of the picture really captures it. |

I think you did a great job! My fave is the 2nd one also, except for the top of the flag on his jacket is a bit distracting, but that's not a huge issue at all.
I only recently got my lights and they aren't even strobes so I can't really give you much advice. But I can say that these look pretty darn good to me. |

These are really good. It's a real challenge to get both black and white exposed properly in a single image. So the white backgrounds and t-shirt against the black jacket and pants could easily blow one or go into deep shadows on the other. But you've managed to hold onto detail both both his shirt and his jacket and pants.
I think #2 is my favorite though. Very dramatic, both in lighting and in pose. Well done!
