I'm in total agreement. This is one of my biggest frustrations (or maybe my one big frustration) with navigation on this site - when viewing photos you always to go back and forth - thumbs, pick a photo, back to thumbs, pick another, over and over and... It would be even better if it worked not only when viewing photos from challenge results, but was smart enough to determine context, and go back/next based on that. For example, if you view someone's profile, click on one of their challenge picks, the back and next would take you to the next earlier or later challenge for that person. If your viewing the top rated photos for a given camera, same thing, it cycles you through the photos for that camera. Same for portfolios, other "favorite pics" lists, etc. On the flip side, if you linked directly to a photo, say from a thumb in a forum thread, then no back/next buttons would be displayed, since it doesn't fit the context.
As a developer, I would tend to say this doesn't seem like it should be too difficult to do, though I can imagine it could take some time to implement, which may not be available. And I don't know how the code is designed, so maybe it's harder than it appears on the surface.
But, this would be soooooo cool if this could be done. |
