I just wanted to see if anyone can help me with this little problem. I've been doing all my editing in Photoshop On my Macbook. After I complete all of my editing and I "save for web" but when i look at the pictures afterwards all the colour has been drained out of them, they look dead.

My guess is that you're using a color space like Adobe RGB. You should "convert" your image to sRGB and THEN save for web. Your colors won't be as saturated but they'll be close enough for all practical "web" purposes.

See this similar thread.

Do you have Proof Colors checked?

I don't know whats up .. I tried switching over to sRBG and it still drained all the color out of the pictures. I never had this problem before It used to work fine but now it doesn't.

Did you use the "convert" option? That is, Image> Mode> Convert To: sRGB IEC61966-2.1

Convert is vital. There is another option (I forget what it's called) that changes the colorspace without converting -- which won't fix your problem.

you guys are going to hate me.. but.. i went and tried to do the "image>mode>convert to: sRBG IEC61966-2.1 but that option wasn't there.. i could do Grayscale, CYMK, RBG, and a few others but nothing for sRBG.. when i tried to switch to sRBG before i did it when the RAW window opened up but that didn't work either.

Another thread here.

Just hit Proof Colors (Command Y) and it will show you what the color change will look like. Then you can edit it from there to get the look you want when Saving for Web.

It might be a lost cause.. im not giving up but thanks for the help everyone.

I Tried the command Y option.. I did the Edit> Convert to profile switch to sRBG and still when I save for web all of my colour and depth and shadow editing is gone. I have no idea whats going on with it or why it decided to start doing this.

If you are importing these photos into another program, and then resizing them, that will give the photos an immediate color shift usually. I really had a problem with this particularly in flash. Also make sure that you have everything on 8 bit instead of 16 bit, and go from there. I have built 3-4 photogs websites including my own. Contact me if you want, and these suggestions dont work. If nothing else, and you are comfortable with it, email them to me and I will give it a shot....
