Just don't resort to this method -

Forget trying to pry it with a spoon... doesn't work.

I've also known them to save a foundation or two from complete and utter destruction! Just kidding, some of my friends are Fire Fighters. Great idea!

Tap the edges of the lid with something like the handle of a kitchen knife... then wrap elastic bands tightly around the lid to enable a better grip and try your luck.

Running it under hot water usually works for me. Expands the metal just enough to loosen it.

those things in the tin are pretty good, but yes, very hard to open... You just gotta keep working the very top of the can... good luck!

I also find this works well:

1) Attach duct tape to the top and bottom
2) Tap gently 23 times around the edge with a ball peen hammer
3) Kick it against the wall several times
4) Stand on your head with the tin balanced on your feet until your roommate comes in.
5) When the roommate asks what you're doing, explain.
6) The roommate will laugh at you, tell you you're nuts, and open the tin just to show you how crazy you are.

Ta-da! Tin open. :)
