The reason for my question, is that we are thinking about buying a projector to show clients their photos, so have like a viewing appointment.. Alot of photographers over here(AUS) show clients thier photos this way, but I was just wondering how you all show your photos to clients/customers..
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks

I have no clients...however, I feel I would show them their proofs in "normal" photo format. I feel this would give them a better idea of what they are buying.
IMO a projected shot may look better OR not as good as a print. This may lead to some dissatisfaction later on.

Becky, you're right all the big pros show using LCD projectors here too. It helps the client to visualize what a wall-size portrait would look like on a wall the size of theirs. It also shows them how dinky an 8X10 looks in comparison. An excellent sales tool and high on my studio want list.
Right now I have a large group of wall-size portraits all over my office walls to give the client a feel for the sizes, but I show them their proofs via slideshow on my 21" monitor. Not as impressive, I'm sure.

If you do get a projector, invest in a good one. Some, such as one that was used for a slideshow I just put together, wash out the images and make them look bad. |

Thanks guys...At the moment, we give our clients a cd with websize watermarked proofs, lately I have been going to customers houses and showing the photos on our laptop before giving them the cd.. My biggest worry is that they may not have a decent monitor and the colours be all out, and ive even had some ppl tell me they dont even have a computer.
My thoughts exactly Cindi about the size difference between proofs and full size photos. I feel showing larger sizes would be an advantage.

I currently use small online proofs and proof print sheets.. But I'm looking at 'live' options as well..
A couple of times now I've just had a slide show of stuff projected onto a wall at an event, and I periodically update the slideshow, or have an assistant do it. Certainly generates a bit of a 'buzz' when a good shot comes up... I've not tried this for small group/individual showings though.
For the software I'm considering showit web (www.showitfast.com) Looks like the ducks-nuts for this sort of thing. have a look at the tutorial videos on the site, and the video on the home page of his main site (www.davidjay.com)
Cheers, Chris H.
