I'd like to see a field to record the original filename when uploading, especially for challenge entries. This would make it easier to find when asked for validation, and would replace my current system of writing the original filename on a yellow sticky. :) |

I keep the filename intact when I submit. I make a folder for each challenge, then it will contain all my edits.

So do I but when you've got something like
weekend.01.1-1250s.f7.1.i400.85mm.IMG_0002.jpg
weekend.02.1-1250s.f7.1.i400.85mm.IMG_0002.jpg
weekend.03.1-1250s.f7.1.i400.85mm.IMG_0002.jpg
weekend.04.1-1250s.f7.1.i400.85mm.IMG_0002.jpg
it would be easier to have the filename for reference rather than flipping through outtakes to find th one that got sent up. |

I have a folder for DPC-challenges, with folders per challenge.
This folder contains:
- original RAW-file
- .xmp-file
- psd-file
- several trials 640px
- final.jpg
easy peasy! |

The name of the file you upload appears in the Title field. I copy and paste it into the Additional Info area before assigning "real" title. Like others have mentioned, I make the original image number part of the final name as well.

When I do save for web on potential submissions I also keep the original file name attached to the shot. For example: Candid-CRW_3527.jpg These all go into a submissions folder. Then when I need to find the original it is much easier...

I do the same thing, except I only save one 640px version. |

See? It's not just me that's really, really, really disorganized! :)
(I just got around to renaming all of my folders with the year-month-day as the first part of the filename. . . .)
:)
Now, thanks to the advice in this thread, I'll have all of my entries organized within the next couple of decades. . . Wish me luck! :) |

maybe an EXIF parser would be more useful?
