Im going to Atlanta, GA in a few weeks and wanted some pointers for some good photo ops.

I will be near or in Downtown Atlanta from Jan 19th to the after noon of th 22nd so I will only have a few nights to shoot, I will be in meetings all day so day time shots maybe out of the question.

Thanks

James

I have visited there once or twice, to see the Coke Factory and museum! Theres a Hard Rock Cafe there too like on the same road or right off of it. They have been growing since I visited so theres a lot of other things to see. But the most I remember for some good pictures was near the Coke Factory! Have Fun! Good Luck!

Hi James,
So you're coming to Atlanta, huh? Cool! Well, if you do happen to get in some day shooting, Piedmont Park is always a good place as well as the botanical gardens. They are both located in the downtown/midtown area. Beautiful scenery and great for people watching. For night shots, a little harder. You can try Centennial park, they have some interesting fountains and it's near CNN center which you may also find some interest, inside and out. Atlanta is supposedly the "City of Fountains" or at least that's what I've heard so you can pretty much find them all over. Lastly, there are tons of interesting buildings in the both the downtown and midtown area. You should be able to get some great cityscape shots! Hope this helps a little. Enjoy your trip! And for a real greasy burger, you have to stop by the Original Varsity downtown, it's a landmark!

Hmmm, night shots eh? Atlanta has three skylines- Downtown, Midtown and Buckhead, all of them make for nice night photos. If you like interiors, try the Fox Theatre one night: //www.foxtheatre.org/. It's an Arabian style theatre that was once a movie house- very cool looking inside. If you're looking for interesting exteriors, the Register of Historic Places in Atlanta might help: //www.cr.nps.gov/nr/travel/atlanta/index.htm

There are plenty of lovely places to shoot outdoors, but your timing (both January and nighttime) aren't all that conducive.... the Botanical Garden, Piedmont Park, Oakland Cemetery, etc. If by chance you do have a chance to shoot in the daytime those three would be good suggestions. Enjoy the city!!

Edit: Duh! Jenesis, I can't believe I forgot Centennial Olympic Park. DEFINITELY a great place for night shots. Put it at the top of your list.

There are some nice old houses in the MLK Jr National Park too! And the reflecting pool at his memorial.
