Hi,
I posted earlier about creating a photo DVD, which seems to be a fairly impossible task with any large number of photos unless you want a family-home-video type of setup. So I've changed my strategy.

What I'm looking to do is compile a set of photos, with captions into a semi-professional self running gallery on PC/Mac. Coffeecup software offer a reasonable solution in this software. The only trouble is that it's flash based, so without compiling an executable (I haven't found a program that will compile the SWF created by coffeecup's software) I need the user of the disc to launch their web browser. I don't really want to do this.

Has anyone made a similar project before? Can anyone recommend some software? I've been searching on and off for a couple of weeks now and not found anything I want to use.

Cheers in advance.

Ive used Pro SHow Gold before...pretty easy to assemble a photo presentation with that.

Pro Show creates slideshows if I'm not mistaken... what I want is an interactive presentation with comments and information displayed with each photo.

Perhaps Microsoft Powerpoint would do what you need?

Not really sure of one that doesn't make you launch at least some external program, windows movie maker and the equivalent mac stuff will make you launch WM or Quicktime to view it anyways.

You might check out ShowIT which was created by David jay so that he can create slideshows so fast, he can have them up and running to show at the same wedding reception for the wedding he just shot. I'm sure he has assistants ;) For $15k he'd better.
