Skip, you said some things that DPCers really need to hear. And I didn't mind hearing them, either. Thanks.

Skip I am beyond honored that you chose one of my photos as one of your top 5 favorite DPC images. I know that you were the first to choose it as a favorite and your comment back then really made me light up. But this is so far beyond that and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am speechless and amazed. You have made my day, week, month, year.

"2500 frames per week? "

Baloney! 2500 frames per week is for wussies.

I once saw you shoot 2500 frames just walking from the corner of 59th and 5th, before you even reached the next corner (58th).

Great interview.

it really was an honor and a thrill when john ( strangeghost) asked me if i wanted to do this, and it was a blast, really digging back through my history here--especially reconnecting with images and people that inspired me and motivated me along the way. this site has so much to offer, even moreso when you focus on its positives and look for ways to get around the negatives without stepping in it.

as a point of clarification, "We were introduced to cow-tipping, frog gigging, and snipe hunting. "

cow-tipping. you are told, "cows sleep standing up. all you do is walk up to them and you can push them over with just a gentle nudge of your pointer finger." you would not believe how many people will actually go out into a cow pasture, at night, and try to poke cows, thinking they are just going to fall over. mainly what happens is the cows get scared and mad and someone ends up running blindly through a pasture, sooner or later stepping or falling in a lot of cow pies...

frog gigging. i'm sure that at some point in time, this was a skill necessary for putting food on the table. where i grew up, it was merely an excuse to stay out late. i don't remember anyone ever actually gigging a frog. as i got older, it merely became an excuse to stay out late, drinking into the early, early, early hours.

snipe hunting. basically, someone takes you out in the woods, at night, with a flashlight and a big bag. when you're deep enough in, they explain to you that you are to "go that way", calling "snipe...snipe...snipe..." and then make a low whistling sound. they are going to go around the other way, and run the snipe towards you so that you can catch them in the bag. they tell you it will take them about 10 minutes to get around to the spot. after about 30 minutes of wandering around in the dark going "snipe...snipe...snipe..." you realize you're alone in the dark in the woods...

That really is a great interview. Well, that is until I got to the part where you called me out. I mean come on Skip, telling the world "That guy has got to be one of the most self-defecating individuals I've ever met"? At least that explains the flies....

Great interview, guys. Here is my favorite quote:

"If you want to be a photographer, you have to explore everything that your camera is capable of. You have to know what it can do so that when you have an opportunity, you can make the most of it. Otherwise, you wind up with a bunch of eye-level snapshots that document where your camera went."

...especially that last line.

I knew there was some reason why Brad needs to be on my favorites list. (except that he's already there.)
