I went outside a little while ago, and noticed a rather large swarm around a bush on the other side of my driveway. June bugs--TONS of them. I took a bunch of shots, and now I'm going to have to buy a trap. They are colorful little buggers, though:

Here's another one. I held the leaf to steady it from the breeze. My fingers give a bit of a size perspective here:

The japaneese beetle, in the scarab family, have been very thick this year.

We had a pretty good run of them in early June. I swear they spend most of their life banging against screen windows. We always have fun flicking the off the screen from inside.

I found a lot of japanese beetles at a local state park.
