I was all ready to go out and shoot tonight. :) Oh well. Almost dark on the east coast.

I know we had one last year, but having a fireworks challenge today makes it almost exclusive a challenge for the United States. New Years fireworks challenges work better for that.

Since when do you need a challenge to go shooting?

As mentioned above, a fireworks challenge would all but exclude non-US participants.

Seems fair enough, It is just like the fireworks challenge on New Years that eliminated everyone living in a city that doesn't have fireworks for that holiday.

The site being written in English excludes quite a bit of people too, but that doesn't seem to be slowing things down.

It's a bit different in that while not every town has fireworks, most countries do - so finding them in an option for most people. For someone in Australia, finding fireworks today is highly unlikely.

A fair point, and debating the merits and drawbacks of operating the site in multiple languages is beyond the scope of this thread, but I don't see it as a reason to exclude a large number of those who do read and understand English - many even as a first language.

If you want to enter a fireworks photo, there is always the July Free Study.

Amen!

It's the middle of a VERY average wet, wet, wet week in Melbourne - Australia!

A Speed Challenge with a predictable topic isn't as much of a challenge -- the OP admits to being prepared and waiting ...

If you want a Speed Challenge, the best way to ensure it doesn't happen is to lobby for it in the forums ...
