Tonight I was printing an 8X10 and even though there are new cartriges, the stroke across each pass had a dark to ligh on the print. So, I'll assume after 5 years it's gone.
Now, I have to find a replacement that hopefully is better than the 722C. Two to three hundred dollar range to start. What do you use? |

Firt try cleaning your current printer, calibrate the heads etc... with that said, I got a Canon i960 for Christmas and I love it. Prints wonderfully well and it can print directly from my camera. |

I just read about this printer today. If I didnt already have the Epson 2200, I would be buying it right now, especially for the price of 300.oo Here is a link to the review, see for yourself :)

I've been completly unimpressed with HP of late... I would hands down go with one of the Epson printers before an HP, and this is comming from an HP owner... I really hate how HP heats their ink before laying it on the paper. Plus the Epsons black is worlds better and the color seems to be truer... I went to a CompUSA and printed test sheets on multiple priters with my own high resolution shots just after the R300 came out. I'm guessing 800R is even worlds better if you can afford it!
Go with any of the newer Epsons with individual ink cartiridges!!! |

I recently bought one of the Epson Photo Printers (915, 935, something like that) and absolutely love it. It also has (maybe others do too) continuous roll photopaper, which is great for standard sized prints.
I prefer HP's as all round printers, but I diod an indepth look into printers for photos and Epson still have the edge I believe. Epson seems slower etc for document printing, but I don;t do much of that at all at home.
So, want an all-round one ... HP seems great, and the photo quality is great.
Photos only and Epson has the edge.
One thing I use a lot and I would highly recommend is get the right up to the edge printing, no white border at all, as that rocks. Epson ones do it, others may also, I can't recall.
I have no idea about relative ink prices though, which can also be an important factor.

I have tbe Epson R300, and its incredible. Photos from the printer to the wall. Great quality of color.
Note, I have never had a really good printer before this. But I really like this one for a reasonable price.

If you can wait till Feb. Epson is coming out with a new printer the R800. It will feature 8 ink tanks using ultra crome ink. By all the descriptions I've read it sounds just what I have been looking for. Sure sounds like the wait will be worth it. $400 price range. |
