Does anyone know a good source to order proof albums from. I am looking for a basic 4X6 album. Nothing fancy just something simple and inexpensive to give clients proofs in.

What kind of photos are going into the albums? Wedding, senior, baby, etc.? And how many photos do you want in the album?

They will be for weddings and portrait shoots. I am just looking for something simple that I can order in bulk to save some money in the long run, rather then buying them at a local store.

The wedding albums will need room for about 200 photos, the portraits for around 50.

if you want cheap, I really would go to target or walmart. You might be able to order bulk (try albums unlimited?) do a search online. But I don't know if the cost will be that much different. FWIW, I try to offer my proofs as books now and I load them all into a blurb book (or something cheap like that). Once you get a template set up it's easy going and my clients love having them in a book so they can take around to show off...

Sorry I don't have a perfect cheap solution for ya!!! ;0) Good Luck!

The book is a good idea too. Where do you have them printed from? It would make it easier then having to put all the pictures into an album.

They don't have to be "cheap" I am just looking to by them in bulk so they will be cheaper.

I use 4x6 proof boxes from DNL (google them). $1.35 each and the deep ones hold about 275 prints.
Albums (TAPP has them) are $20-40 and hold 200...and you have all that time putting htem in there, and teh happy couple usually takes them all back out!

I do the printed proofs via winkflash.com (12c each) - the file numbers are printed on the back of each print so the happy couple can give me file numbers or a pile of prints they want in the album (i do more with this way). I use Instaproof.com for online proofing and there they can pick their favorites and I can go in and cut and paste the list of files.

Either way, i take the file list, use windows search function to find the files, and then put them in a subdirectory so i have the images for the album all together in one place. works well for me

with blurb it is open to the public, you only have to sign up. You download their software (small and free!) and then you drag the images to the the book and you can add text. It was very easy.

I wasn't too impressed with the quality of the images in the book- they were just 'ok' but that's why it's my proof book, not a finished album. It might work for what you want :0)

I've never used iphoto, I only know of it so I can't help you much there!

edit to add some pics! I forgot I uploaded these a while back. I did this for a vendor, but I decided to make something of higher quality instead...

I have 13 really nice leather, Burnes of Boston Panodia 100% Archival proof albums. The leather album is in a black gloss finish box, with a black linen-covered top, and holds 200 4x5 or 4x6 photos. I used to use them for hard proofs, but I no longer do weddings, and really don't do hard-copy proofs much anymore.

Here's the "hype" description from the manufacturer:
One of Panodia`s premiere models, this gorgeous photo album is fashioned from very rich black leather. Features a library book type binding with luxe ribbed spine.

Album holds 200 4"x6" prints or photos in 100 slip-in pages, 2 per page (2 back and 2 front).

Acid-free pages have Panodia`s famous mini-star backing (see inside view). A convenient memo area is provided next to each photo for notes. There is also a handy pocket in the back for extra photos and mementos.

Overall, the album measures 6½"wide x 7¼"tall x 2" deep.

They are quite nice, and all clients that got them, loved them.

They sell (retail) for about $24.00 each. I'd be willing to sell them for $15.00 each, or $175.00 for all 13.

Linda, if Oilo doesn't snap those up, I might be interested in having some of them. Checking out Blurb at the moment.
