site. Fixing a few things turns into re-doing it, turns into adding a shopping cart to it = pain in the neck. Then the server that he was using crashed and the site was gone, which made me have to re-do it a second time...
//www.poochpastryshop.com/index.htm
is now...
//poochpastryshop.com/Joomla/
All that work sucked, and it isn't even finished yet...grrrr. |

Hope it was either a really good friend or, now that he/ she realises that the small task turned into a major job, the owner of the business will find a way to pay you back!
GOOD JOB!

They have no idea. They think that it was this little thing that I did for them...lol
I will never let anybody know that I can fiddle with websites again. I am going to be known as web-illiterate from now on.
They are going to let me borrow their season tickets to the Rockies and the Broncos.

Ya, I never had any intention of letting it go that far. But friends have a way of looking at you and saying...I wish it had...and If we could only have a site that did...
Then you are totally screwed. |

Ok here is the best part. So I get the site up and running about 3 months ago. About 1 day after I had it working it went haywire. Files were missing on the server, and the site was phhhthhthth. Only a person with access to the control panel of the server could have done what was done. Anyway I had my suspicion that the guy I was doing this for went into the control panel and was farting around with stuff. I told him no big deal, he had mentioned that he wanted to change hosting providers anyway, so I said I would re-set up the database and the site on the new server. So I have had this new site up for a few days, and tonight I went to access it, and it would not let me look at any file on the server. I was like "what the hell". Well I finally found out that he was dorking around on the server and set up a password that protected all the files on the server. Fortunately removing that password did not cmod any files and it is back to working. I told him to never ever go on the server control panel ever again ever never.
We will see how long the site stays up... |

And you know that the five or six of us on this website won't tell anyone...ever...hopefully!
Hey Jason... maybe you could help me with setting up my own site. If you could just show me a little, I am sure I could finish it myself!!!

I work as IT Support for the NHS, and I could make a fortune from the users and their PCs at home, you can attend a job and whilst there someone always says
"I have a PC at home that isnt doing XYZ, any ideas what it is"
(me) "nope"
"well, maybe if I bring it in could you take a look at it?"
(me)"nope"
"well is there anything I can do maybe?"
"have you checked for spyware/viruses, have you run defrag, and whilst you are at it, try uninstalling those toolbars/shopping bars from Internet explorer, I assume you have a lot of them right?"
"yeah"
"also, I bet you have downloaded a load of `free` screensavers from t'internet"
"ummm, yeah, so you think you know what the problem is then"
"yeah, your flux capacitor sounds like it needs replacing, take it to PC World, they should be able to sort it out"
I hope PC World stock flux capacitors. FIxing the PCs of people at work is a minefield, in 6 months they always call you back and say, "hey, you know you looked at my PC, well it is doing the same thing again", then expect you to come and fix it for nothing.
