Salutations!
I tried entering this in a search engine but cant get what i want sonce i dont know how to write it in few words.
Anyway, I am trying to make a webpage and make a template. I want the template to apply for most of the site. What i was wondering is if there is a way to make the template into an object, so that one day if i want to change the template, it will apply to all the pages. Im guessing its possible but i dont knwo how. I use dreamweaver.

Frontpage and other programs like Dreamweaver can do this.
However a site like this uses PHP, youll have one page template for a profile and another for a thread page and another for a photo. You reference a number such as a user, thread, or image id with a database to fill in the blanks.
Would require a server that can run php and a mysql database but there are other ways perl and mysql, php and flatfile database. Yada yada.

Yes. You can create templates in Dreamweaver and apply them to pages and they will change when you make changes to the template.
To create a template start with a blank page, design your template (including editable regions) and then Save it as a template.
You can then apply the template to other pages under the modify menu.

I do this will all my sites.
I generally chop pages up into a top, bottom and middle, and use server-side includes to bring in the top and bottom files to assemble the pages. This way, if I want to make a change to the navigation, I just need to change the "top" file once, and viola, it affects the whole site.
So most of my inside pages looks like:

Ofcourse there is always the CMS route. Content Management Software. Sourceforge.net has lots of good ones. Building a site around a blog package isn't a bad idea either.

| Yeah, I use joomla for alot of my sites that I run. Highly customizable, alot of mods and addons available, including photogalleries and you can integrate any code into the layout including a store or say a smugmug or dpcprints content. |
