I know there have been a few Florida organized GTG's on the east coast and Orlando which I have not been able to make so far. Wanted to see if there was anyone on the west coast of Florida around the Tampa/St Pete area (or further?) that might be interested in organizing a GTG at some point?
We have Busch Gardens, Lowry Park Zoo, The Florida Aquarium, Florida Botanical Gardens in Seminole, USF Botanical Gardens and I am sure there are other options right in this area as well. |

I'm in Miami for the summer, but I'll be headed to Tampa in August to visit family. Does that count? ;)

It's not such a far drive over for me, I'm game.
Edit to say:
As log as you don't bring your snakes!

Aw...but they are nice snakes, really! All non-venomous species. I have 26 currently with 10eggs in the incubator. My roommate though has around 80 with about 30 eggs in the incubator.
They do make great subjects for photography too!
We will be moving sometime in the next month or two from Seminole (between Clearwater/St Pete) to out around Lakeland/Winter Haven/Davenport somewhere, but it won't be a big deal for me to drive back out here for a GTG. I was just thinking we haven't had one on this coast and there are a lot of great photo ops around here.

I am in. We are in Brooksville, just north or Tampa. I have been thinking of posting for a GTG. I decided to search the posts first. :)
We have passes for the Aquarium, Bush Garden and the Zoo(I think they are still good). Plus there are some great places in the area for hiking or sunset/sunrise.

I'm in Gainesville which is a few hours away, but with enough notice I might be able to make it. |

Cool - looks like we have some interest...
Now to start picking when and where.....
Any dates work better than others for anyone?
I believe Eugene noted earlier in the thread he would be in this area in August? |

August would be good for me. I would perfer a weekend because I don't want to have to tag children along.
Any ideas on where to go??? |

I was thinking the Tampa Aquarium might be good...not only does it have all the fish - but it also has an open air aviary. It is also right next to the port so depending on when we go, we might be able to get pics of a cruise ship coming or going. Channelside is also right there with lots of shopping and dining which could provide some opportunities for candid photos and it is just a short walk down the street from the Ice Palace.
If anyone is into flowers, we also have a great botanical garden out here in Seminole that is also attached to a "heritage village" type of place:
Florida Botanical Gardens
I spend many afternoons over there - something is always blooming and it is never busy. |

The Aquarium will work for me. We have passes. :) We could walk around the downtown area for some pictures afterwards.
I have never been to or even heard of that botanical garden. I will have to check it out. |

I guess it will be just me. LOL!!!
Another thought...This weekend we went to Rainbow Springs. It is about 1 1/2 hours north of Tampa. There is a great nature walk with waterfalls and a natural plant garden and butturfly garden. It is so beautiful. There is also a great swimming area with nice cold fresh water. After walking around in this heat it feels wonderful. How about a GTG up there that way anyone in Gainsville/Ocala area could join us. I will try and get some pictures added to here in a few minutes. |

Wow - I have never even heard of that place but it looks pretty awesome. And it isn't all that far....
I think it would be a great option to work with. |

It is a wonderful place. One of my favorites to go shoot at (and swim at). We could make it a Central Florida GTG. That way more people could tag along. |
