OK I'v done some new work and re edits

Original First edit second edit

Original Edit

Original Edit

The part I'm having the most problems with is the girl... in ral life she's almost as pink as her dress, combined with her red hair she's a challenge (at least to me... I'm sure to the rest of you this is elementry).

PS I tried to be less heavy handed

pps I hear they look dark... I'll work on that some other time

I'm not really fond of the selective desat of the first image, however, the second edit seems better than the first.

For the second picture I prefer the original. The colour just seems a bit overdone on the edit.

I also prefer the original of the third one as well. The edit has made the features of the man blend together with his suit and the overall image is just too dark.

Here's a simple workflow that might work on these images:

Apply USM using 20, 50 and 0
Apply Highlight/shadow setting the shadow radius to 75 and the midtone contrast to 9
Create a Hue/sat layer and adjust as needed
Create a levels layer - try the auto options to see if anything works there, then adjust the midtone slider to get the contrast the way you want
Apply USM again using 117, 1.8, 2

This is a 7 minute workflow given out at a workshop I attended. It works on most images with just a little tweaking here and there. At any rate, it's just something else to try.

BTW, the setting for these images is wonderful.

Colette

PS. Remember, this is just one opinion.

I agree with Colette that the originals seem more pleasing than the edits. Though the second edit on the first image is better.

Try selecting just her skin and adjusting the color balance (more cyan). It will take away a lot of the pinky-orange in her skin tone.

Ya that skin was a problem with her... she really is that pinky purple color in real life :(... any tips on problem skin?
