Yeah, it's ridiculous that the Olympic committee thinks it's an "unfair advantage" to have no legs...

I say let him run.

Sorry, but I disagree. They're saying it's an unfair advantage to have high-tech springs for legs.

Yes, so what they're saying to all the disabled people out there is that no matter what they do, they will never be the same as us 'normal' people again.
It's not as if Pistorius is even running as fast as able-bodied athletes at this stage. All he is arguing is that he is so superior to the other disabled athletes that he would like to be afforded the opportunity to challenge himself by competing against able bodied athletes.
No one has even scientifically proven whether his artficial legs actually give him a competitive advantage.
Imagine if Michelle Wie was told that she couldn't play golf with the guys because it's not fair that she gets to use shorter clubs, and because skirts keep her legs cooler than the guys' trousers (hey, the Olympic Committees reasons aren't scientific either)? It would be labelled discrimination.
But it seems they are allowed to say that handicapped athletes are not fit to mix with 'normal' athletes.
And if it's just the prosthetics that were the problem, I'm sure Oscar would love to be able to run without them. Natalie Du Toit was allowed to swim (and win) against able-bodied swimmers even though she had half a leg because she didn't use any artificial limbs.
But the physics of running doesn't work like swimming. With no artificial legs, Oscar can't run at all. So the artificial legs aren't giving him an "unfair advantage", they're simply allowing him to take part in the same activities that able-bodied atheletes can.
As I said, he still isn't even running as fast as most of them.
Is it really fair to exclude him?

Its sad for him that they wont allow him to run, but I agree with the decision. In those events you are not allowed to have any devices helping you run. I wonder how fast a runner with legs would run if they fitted the same device on him.
