I have put two images related to Bengal Famine in my portfolio. I feel they are worth a look.
The foot note to these photos:
This photo is not taken by me. In fact it is not a photo in the sense that it is not taken by any camera, it is snap shot of a TV program on BBC channel about history of india (i do not remember it correctly).
This photo is about Bangal famine of 1943 in which around over five million people died.

Those are some amazing, and wholely disturbing images to remind us of things we should consider as the human race.

Interesting post, Arjun. Even today, 64 years later, we (as nations) continue to keep world hunger low on our priority list. Some live, some die, some live and die in horrible ways. As individuals, we wring our hands and say "what can I do??", and do nothing.
And you're right - 'enjoy' is the wrong word.

These photos are in my hard disks for 4 years now, every time I look at them, I can feel how the situation might be that time.
I remember when I was kid I saw one hindi movie in which they showed about this famine. I used to think if the situation was really so bad. After seeing these pictures I feel that movie was not at all exaggeration. |
