Isn't this what you can do with the expert editing rule set?

not sure, but would be good to have a challenge specificly for Joiners
06/24/2007 04:17:54 PM · #5
Why?

Expert editing allows the use of more than one image.

Any challenge with expert editing would be a challenge to use multiple images, like the current Sci-Fi challenge.

Because it is much more effective to compare apples with apples.

The OP would like to see a challenge full of "joiners", not be the only one.

no college and joiners are different, a college is a series of pictures not of the subject joined to gether to make the subject ahh makes no sence haha

look at David Hockneys work he's probs most famous Joiner photographer

Not interested and don't like the so called expert (pronounced overly) editing rules anyways...
06/24/2007 09:14:26 PM · #12
They are not trivial to create, and a well-done 'joiner' is totally cool! I'd sure be game (maybe a side challenge if nothing else)
Here is a bit about David Hockney and a stunning example of a 'joiner'...

... and here is a link to his website

(edited to add, great idea, exclamationjay :-)

there probly not to everyones taste, but are a completly different type of photography than most seen on this site. =]

Sure, because montages don't fit any ruleset other than expert. Would seem to be a nice fit for an expert challenge though.
06/24/2007 09:29:18 PM · #15
so a joiner is a panoramic made from multiple images.

It seems that Mr. Hockney calls it collage :)

indeed, BUT still is a difference

Not to argue or anything...just to clarify.
I did some wiki..and according to wiki, Photomontage or Joiner is a form of collage.

//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Collage
Scroll down a bit on the page.

No suggestion is going to appeal to everyone, but this is certainly something I would like to try. Guess I could anyway - I've thought about it in the part but never actually got round to it. But a challenge would be interesting.

Edit to say: I like your examples a lot.
