It has only been three days, my computer took nearly two weeks and then if it was humid it quit working for another few weeks.

If you drop an electronic gadget in water follow these instructions...THEY WORK!!!!!

1 remove the battery and make sure it's OFF

2 Pour rubbing alcohol all over the gadget. Make sure you get it in all of the cracks and hidden spots.

3 shake out any excess liquid.

4 LIGHTLY blow out the rest of the alcohol.

THIS WORKS!!!! The alcohol will displace any water and moisture. The alcohol will then quickly evaporate leaving the electronics nice and dry and even a bit cleaner than before your swimming lessons. If you don't beleive me chuck your kids $2.00 toy in the pool and try it out on something cheap. I've done this more than a dozen times and 9 out of 10 times it works. YOU MUST BE QUICK ABOUT GETTING THE ALCOHOL IN THERE. The longer you wait the more damage the water does.

The most expensive thing I have done this on to date is a $600 hand held scanner I dropped in a pool while shooting an assignment. I was lucky first aid was open.

...and if the alcohol doesn't fix the cam, you can use your lens cap to do some shots!

Of rubbing alcohol???? You'd have to be pretty brave... Although I guess you could rinse it out with some Grey Goose or Bacardi 151. :)

**This post does not in any way condone underage drinking... Drinking is bad**

I just read an article in a magazine about what to do when this happens. Like everyone else said step one is remove all of the batteries. By all I mean the date/time battery as well. Second step is to soak it in very very clean water. As someone else mentioned this gets the grime out of the camera. Grime is what leads to rust and calcium deposits and that is what will short the circut board traces out in two weeks when you think you have saved it. Soak it for a day or so and while doing this get the dessicant. Do not use a powder. Powders will seep in the cracks and that is bad. Now here is the most important step. Pack the camera with the brand new dessicant in the box and make sure it is packaged very very well. Then once it is packaged mail the camera to the manufacturer ASAP. but makes sure the dessicant is in the package so it continues to remove the moisture while it is being shipped.

If it were me, I would stick it in the oven and warm it up to about 150 degrees F and leave it there for a while until it was warmed all the way through. I am not sure what temp would cause damage but I know that mine gets that hot if I leave it in the car on a summer day, so I am sure 150 wouldn't hurt it.

call or email sony for battery location.

or ask kiwinicks friends.

If there is no way to remove it, at least find out how to trigger the factory reset and write the instructions on the front of your manual so you don't lose it. Very handy to have.
