Just a thought, but this would kill many birds with one stone given the many threads relating to editing restrictions and challenge topics.

You could get that great shot featured, practise editing and always have a shot that meets the challenge all year round!

I was actually gonna suggest that too, but had to go to work and I ain't supposed to be on the internet here, so I guess this is a second for that idea!

Sounds like a good idea to me!

I think a monthly open challenge for members is a great idea. editing or no editing.

I love this idea as well.

I would like to see the voting taken down to one week only is all. We have 2 weeks for the december one and there are no more entries than usual ... and 2 weeks is a loooong time to wait to see the results *laugh*

Yes, what Natator said.

However, it is entirely possible that if there is another month-long "free study" challenge, there could be a lot more entries. I personally have no problem with 2 weeks of voting for a month-long challenge.

Two weeks is a long time to wait for results, but I can see how it might be a bit much for some people to vote on three challenges in one week... especially if you get three with a lot of entries and are using a modem. It would be interesting if we had a way to compare one week of voting (number of votes and comments) to two weeks of voting.
