...keep those jobs a rolling!
So, in May I shot team pictures for a bunch of YMCA gymnastics teams...there were ~70 kids. They turned out great! Everybody was happy with the packages, prints, prices, (and most importantly) service. I made just enough money to pay for some Alien Bee strobes and learned that I need to increase my prices slightly to make it more worth my while. All-in-all I was pleased with the experience.
Apparently, so were some parents. I got a call yesterday from a football coach’s wife. She had heard about my YMCA job, saw some of the prints, and heard “great reviews” of the service I had provided the gymnasts and their parents. She is in charge of pictures and wants information, samples, and prices to shoot pee-wee and little league football and cheerleading this fall! Because these leagues aren’t affiliated with the school, they don’t have to use the school board’s best bidding photographer. She said she wasn’t overly pleased with the prints or service from last year’s photographer and wants to give me a shot for this year. These kids are 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders; and average 20-25 kids per class, plus an average of a dozen cheerleaders in each grade.
I don’t want to toot my own horn too much. I can’t help but be excited! This job and the three weddings I have in the fall will bring in some spending money!
Thanks for listening...and wish me luck!
